COAL, SAIL and Dr. M. Visvesvaraya Awards 2026: Call for Papers

The Institution of Engineers (India) has announced the Call for Papers for the prestigious COAL India (J. G. Kumaramangalam Memorial) Award, SAIL Award, and Dr. M. Visvesvaraya Award 2026. These awards are organized to recognize outstanding technical and research contributions presented during the Indian Engineering Congress.

The COAL India (J. G. Kumaramangalam Memorial) Award 2026 focuses on the theme “Repurposing of Underground Mines (Abandoned/Discontinued)”. Authors are invited to submit innovative ideas, research findings, and practical solutions related to the sustainable utilization of abandoned underground mining infrastructure.

For the SAIL Award 2026, the selected topic is “Safety Management with Digital Intervention in Steel Industry”. This theme encourages research and case studies highlighting the use of digital technologies to improve workplace safety and operational efficiency within the steel sector.

The Dr. M. Visvesvaraya Award 2026 is centered on “Sustainable Mining and Raw Material Security for Steel Industry – A Way Forward”. Contributors are encouraged to present forward-looking approaches that support sustainable mining practices and ensure long-term raw material security for industrial growth.

Submitted papers should preferably be limited to 3,000 words and may include relevant photographs, illustrations, and supporting data. All submissions must be accompanied by the prescribed Declaration Form and should comply with the guidelines issued by The Institution of Engineers (India).

The last date for submission of papers is 30 June 2026. Interested authors and researchers are encouraged to review the detailed guidelines and download the required templates before submitting their entries.
